User Group Successes
A number of UGs have held one or more meetings this year with very informative presentations by IBM and other vendors. We’d like to begin the practice of highlighting a UG in each Newsletter that has had tremendous success with the growth of their UG and meeting attendance.

Congratulations to the AIX UG UK which has the highest number of members - 100 members as of the end of October, and had 50 members attend their recent meeting on Nov 10th. In appreciation of their hard work and success we’re sending Colin Renouf, the UG Leader, a number giveaways to be used at their next meeting.

Technical University Events
During the Technical University held at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas NV, the week of Sep 11th, the Global PowerAIX Community hosted a number of activities. A keynote presentation by Jeff Howard, Director of System pTM marketing at IBM, helped kick off the Community activities by announcing the Global PowerAIX Community and giving appreciation awards to the UG leaders who attended. In addition, a “Birds of a Feather” session was held to discuss various community activities around Power and AIX. Carlos Marques the UG leader for Upstate New York AIX UG, presented a Global PowerAIX Community overview. The Global PowerAIX Community also shared a pedestal with IBM developerWorks and over 270 conference attendees requested for more information on the Community. Finally the Global PowerAIX Community UG leaders who attended the Technical University and a number of IBMers got an opportunity to get to know each other better at a dinner at Mix on the top of THEHotel at the Mandalay Bay resort and casino. You can see the great time and beautiful view in these pictures.
